NEW AIRLINE - Bees Airlines from Romania receives AOC
Bees Airlines is based at Bucharest and will operate charter-flights to the Mediterranean. According to CH-Aviation, the airline is planning to replace its current A320 with another in the coming weeks. Its website also shows renderings of Airbus A321s but it's unclear if Bees secured these.
It's interesting to note that this airline has no connection with Ukrainian Bees Airlines, which was launched in 2021 and has been dormant since the beginning of the war in Ukraine.
FLEET - Air Sénégal takes first two Let 410NGs
The L 410 NG has a new African customer. It is Senegal, which has ordered a total of five aircraft, with the first two already departing today. This is an important milestone for the OMNIPOL Group and our company.
Today at eight o'clock in the morning, the first two planes took off on their way to a new customer in Senegal They are facing a route of over 5000 km with 4 stopovers.
The planes will fly in the colors of the country's largest state carrier, Air Senegal. "Last year we penetrated the markets in Central Asia with our aircraft, today we are also strengthening our position in the African market " says Jiří Podpěra, President of the OMNIPOL.
And he adds: "Our aircraft have many advantages thanks to their specific characteristics, and therefore, I believe that Senegal will be another of the many satisfied customers of these legendary machines on the African continent."
Compared to the older L 410 UVP-E20 model, the L 410 NG offers improved flight parameters and operational characteristics, as well as more modern technologies and innovative avionics. In particular, it has a longer range and can carry 500 kilograms more cargo. The luggage compartment has also been doubled.
The aircraft is completely constructed in Aircraft Industries, with the involvement of 617 Czech companies in its production. Just for fun - 13,000 parts, 15,000 screws, 15,000 meters of cables and 180,000 rivets are needed to make one machine!

Emirates adds SAF on flights from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport
Dubai, UAE, 27 March 2024: Emirates has commenced the activation of its fuel agreement with Neste this month at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. Over 2 million gallons of blended SAF will be supplied into the fuelling system at Schiphol Airport over the course of 2024.
The airline will track the delivery of SAF into the fuelling systems and environmental benefits using standard industry accounting methodologies. Emirates’ partnership with Neste, announced late last year, represents one of the largest volumes of SAF that the airline has purchased to date.
Once fully supplied into Amsterdam Schiphol’s fuelling system, the blended SAF will have been comprised of over 700,000 gallons of neat SAF. The airline is also working with Neste to supply SAF into the fuelling systems at Singapore Changi Airport in the next few months.
Adel Al Redha, Deputy President and Chief Operations Officer, Emirates said: “Collaborating with committed partners like Neste is one of the practical steps we are taking to reduce our emissions, and it’s an all-important milestone in our own sustainability journey as an airline. Strong partnerships like this, especially at major air transport hubs such as Amsterdam, lay the foundation for how we can work with partners and airports to increase access to and availability of SAF across our network.”
Alexander Kueper, Vice President Renewable Aviation, Neste said: “We are proud to support Emirates in their sustainability journey. SAF is an available solution for reducing greenhouse gas emissions from air travel and it is exciting that Emirates have started using our Neste MY Sustainable Aviation Fuel at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. It is also a great example of how we are working together with partners to accelerate SAF usage and are looking forward to the next steps of our cooperation.”
SAF used as part of this agreement can be safely dropped into existing jet engines and airport fuelling infrastructure, and in neat form reduces lifecycle carbon emissions by up to 80%* compared to using conventional jet fuel.
Emirates’ first flight powered by SAF blended with jet fuel took place in 2017 from Chicago. The airline currently operates flights from Paris, Lyon and Oslo with SAF. In October of last year, Emirates, with the support of partners, also integrated SAF into Dubai Airport fuelling systems, allocating the SAF to a number of flights, including a flight to Sydney.
Earlier this year, the airline became the first international carrier to join the Solent Cluster in the UK, an initiative focused on low carbon investments with the potential to create a Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) plant that can produce up to 200,000 tonnes (200 kt) per year if operational by 2032.
Emirates also actively contributes to a number of industry and UAE government working groups and is in continuous discussion with a range of stakeholders to help scale the production and supply of SAF. The airline, along with the UAE GCAA has actively played a part in developing the UAE’s power-to-liquid (PtL) fuels roadmap, driven by the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure and the World Economic Forum, in addition to contributing to the UAE’s National Sustainable Aviation Fuel Roadmap which aims to transform the UAE into a regional hub for alternative aviation fuels with the ambition to produce 700 million litres of SAF by 2030.
Joining entities across aviation, government, regulatory, academic, fuel production and the manufacturer value chain, Emirates is a founding participant of the UAE research consortium Air-CRAFT, focused on developing, producing, and scaling sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) technologies for the industry.
*When used in neat form (i.e. unblended) and calculated with established life cycle assessment (LCA) methodologies, such as CORSIA methodology

FLEET - SpiceJet to wet-lease in two A340s for Hajj
The Indian low-cost carrier said that each of the quadjets would seat up to 324 passengers but did not disclose the identity of the operator. The ch-aviation fleets module shows there are currently no A340s on the market configured for exactly 324 passengers. SpiceJet did not respond to ch-aviation's request for comment.
Besides Srinagar and Guwahati, SpiceJet plans to also operate Hajj charters out of Gaya, Bhopal, Indore, Aurangabad, and Vijayawada.
Last year, the airline wet-leased two A340-300s from Legend Airlines (Romania) (LZ, Bucharest Henri Coanda) for its Hajj operations, configured for 257 to 263 passengers. SpiceJet pocketed INR3.4 billion rupees (USD40.6 million) in revenues from more than 200 Hajj flights, carrying over 21,000 pilgrims over the season.
SpiceJet does not serve Saudi Arabia on a scheduled basis and does not operate any in-house widebodies.

Asiana's last 'Queen of the Skies' Boeing 747 makes final flight
Asiana Airlines' B747 passenger aircraft receives a special water salute to commemorate its final flight at Taoyuan International Airport in Taipei, Taiwan, on Monday.
Departing from Taiwan's Taoyuan Airport at 1:20 p.m. and arriving at Incheon Airport at 4:35 p.m., the final flight was fully booked as aviation enthusiasts secured every seat well in advance.
The Boeing 747, nicknamed the "Queen of the Skies" and "Jumbo Jet," contributed to the popularization of long-haul travel since its introduction in 1970 due to its ability to accommodate more than 500 passengers over long distances.
Asiana Airlines introduced the aircraft in question on June 20, 1999, and over its service life, it accumulated 96,986 flight hours, covering 88 million kilometers (54.7 million miles) across 18,139 flights — roughly equivalent to circling the Earth 2,500 times. It also holds the record for the highest number of Code One missions transporting the Korean president for the airline.
As a symbolic farewell gesture, fire trucks at both departure and arrival airports performed a "water salute" to commemorate the retirement of the iconic aircraft.
"It's with great sadness that I bid farewell to the Boeing 747-400 passenger plane, the first plane that I ever rode," Captain Kim Jae-ho, the pilot of the final flight, said. "I extend my gratitude to all passengers who joined us on this final journey."
